BMC BLADEWORKS ~ A minor rebrand.
BMC stands for British M*chete Company, and this isn't changing. We are British, in Britain, we design and make M*chetes and we are a company. Simple!
What IS changing, is how we are structuring the online/digital branding of BMC - drum roll please... (ignoring that you have seen the title)
BMC Bladeworks
Why? Well, if you are in the "bladed article" industry, you can probably guess correctly.
The "M" word has, in the past few years, fallen so far and so fast downward that it is now more or less synonymous with the worst of the worst terms in the English language.
This is no poppycock - the government, the main stream media, all social media and every Tom, Dick and Karen dare not even utter the word in good company.
But why is it so bad? After all, it is a simple foliage management tool, one of the oldest tools in the world and is used all around the world by millions of people EVERY SINGLE DAY for foliage management tasks.
Well, it has fallen from grace in large part due to the association with scallywags. Yup, thanks to all the rapscallions running amuck, we have had to rename our company. But not only that, we are also under constant fear of having our premium, custom designed tools "banned" by the powers that be.
In an effort to stave off the nanny states culture corrupting activities, the name is an effort to avoid unwarranted and unwanted scrutiny. But there is also another reason too.
Reason Two:
We also design and make smaller blades. Yup our next release is actually a knife smaller in total length than the handle of our popular M51 Vanguard. This Imp of a blade, is indeed the M13 Imp. It's only 135mm OAL, so it's definitely NOT a M*chete.
So with an increasing number of smaller blade designs coming through, we felt it sensible to lower the spotlight on just one style of blade.
