The Lading is a great all-rounder - it is perfect to for Spring pruning and an ideal light-carry option around the garden, woods and on expeditions.

It's excellent slicing and chopping performance is inextricably linked to its historical design and traditional manufacturing techniques. A true daily workhorse tool.

It is designed to be powerful and nimble in hand, offering enough responsiveness and power for hacking back branches, brambles and weeds. Ideal for clearing paths lightening fast - the meaning of 'Kilat' in Malay.

It is a classic Parang with up-swept blade profile in 5160 steel. It sports a generous and extremely comfortable Croatian Beech handle.

Overall length is 470mm / 18.50in with a blade length of 300mm / 11.81in. The blade has a distal taper from 7mm down to 4mm, keeping the blade strong, light and well balanced for general use.

There is no finger guard, in keeping with a more traditional 'Parang' and to give a much more streamlined look and feel. The ricasso is unsharpened, offering security against the hand accidentally slipping forward.

The shape of the front handle is very neutral and allows for a standard hammer grip. Front and reverse pinch grips are all super comfortable and well-balanced for all outdoor clearance scenarios.

The Lading comes with a unique BMC designed and engineered made-in-Britain Kydex sheath with dangler attachment.

The traditional hammer finished blade should be kept clean and well oiled to keep it looking its best. Simply give it a wipe down after use and a quick spray of 3in1 oil before storing in its sheath.

Care Instructions:

The Lading Kilat is made from 5160 Carbon Steel. To keep the steel free from signs of oxidation or corrosion; please ensure it is cleaned, oiled and ensure it is put away dry. Using "wet wipes" or other chemical cleaning products may discolour the blade.

We suggest using the cleaning cloth provided to remove clearance debris and dirt, a generous squirt of 3-IN-ONE oil (manufactured by WD40) onto the blade and carefully wiped down after use will keep the steel in optimal condition.

High-kinetic use of any outdoor blade will result in the cutting edge dulling. 5160 is an easy to sharpen steel by simply using a whetstone. Learning how to do this effectively is an incredibly useful skill for the future maintenance of all your bladed articles.

Always store the blade in it's provided kydex sheath, away from children and in a safe, cool, dry place.

Customer Reviews:

'I’ve been using my machete now for several months and it’s really useful
for my forestry work. I’ve had to hack my way through countless clumps
of Bracken, Brambles, thorn bushes, etc. and it’s done the job every
time. It’s alsovery good at pruning side branches and shoots, especially when you’re
marking trees to be felled.

'I'm in love with it. I like the weight and balance. The size is perfect. Not too big, not too small. Fits in the day sack snugly.' ~ Rajinder S. UK

'I have recently received the Vanguard golok and used it today for the
first time. You've smashed it out the park with one! Perfectly balanced
and supreme quality. Talking to you at the British shooting show I could
see you take pride in your work and it shows. So thank you very much.
