It's inspired by the famous WWI British Battleship HMS Dreadnought - launched in 1906 it instantly became a whole new class of Battleship being larger and far more heavily armed than other before it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sea-spray mottled steel hull of the great ship inspires the looks of this weathered (but brand new) Vanguard! The Micarta handle scales have also been given a gun-smoked look.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is an incredibly useful camping and gardening tool.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Vanguard weighs just 600g and overall length of 511mm. The weight savings are gained through having a distal tapered blade - from 5mm at the handle to a slicey 2.8mm at the tip.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt also has a faceted spine, positioned to not compromise batoning, but to limit deep-chop-pinching and reduce overall blade weight. To keep the steel free from signs of oxidation or corrosion; please ensure it is cleaned, oiled and ensure it is put away dry. Using \"wet wipes\" or other chemical cleaning products may discolour the blade.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe acid wash finish has been set with heated mineral oil. Some wear may occur during normal use of the blade.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe suggest using the cleaning cloth provided to remove clearance debris and dirt, a generous application of 3-IN-ONE oil (manufactured by WD40) onto the blade and carefully wiped down after use will keep the steel in optimal condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHigh-kinetic use of any outdoor blade will result in the cutting edge dulling. SK5 is an easy to sharpen steel by simply using a whetstone.
